Introduction to our Course on Jewelry CAD with Blender

Learn how to design Jewelry

Introduction to our course

You can learn how to use Blender 3d, a freeware application that you can use to CAD almost anything.  While it is a wonderful program, with many features, we will be focusing on the use of Blender, as well as several other ad-ons to design beautiful items of jewelry.  The sky is the limit.

A Hobby, or just for Fun

I’m a jeweler and a watchmaker.  I get to see my customer’s most beautiful items.  I enjoy it so much, that I took it to a new lever a long time ago, using my computer and imagination, and learned how to CAD all kinds of items.

Maybe you are in the jewelry business, or maybe you just want to learn how to design jewelry.  This is a great place to start these days.  The old way of drawing, even for artists, can be daunting.  If you’re like me, and can’t draw well, then CAD work is so much better, and the results are wonderful.

From start to finish, we will be working together to download Blender 3d, install it, and then download and install two add-ons for Blender that will help make your creative imagination pop out onto your computer screen.

Learn Skills that will Earn you a Career!

Believe it or not, there are thousands of jewelry designers out there.  Why can’t you be one of them?  Well, you can.  I’ve been lucky enough to sit down with many customers, and create that one-of-a-kind piece that makes them so happy.  I enjoy it a great deal.  However, it would always be easier for me, to call up a designer and spend a bit of time with them and let them create the CAD design for me.

That may sound like a terrible thing, but wait…  I’m at my bench most of the day, fixing jewelry, fixing watches, setting stones, etc.  The time it takes to work on the computer often gets in my way.

This is where the Skills you learn, can earn you a lot of money if you should choose to be ambitious enough to seek it.  Here is why…

After you spend some time working on your skills, in a few months, you should be able to work with a client, spend an hour or two on the computer, and create the perfect piece for them.  All this work, equates to between $80.00 to $250.00 in design work.  As you build your clientele, and your reputation, these figures go up, as well as your skill level.  I know, because for the past seven years, I’ve been doing this myself.

Is Blender 3D the right tool?

Blender 3d is a wonderful program.  I want you to realize that it was not made to be a jewelry CAD system.  It is a very functional, detailed CAD system, with so many tools and options, that make it easy to be specific to your tasks and needs.

There are many other Specific Jewelry CAD software that is designed solely for the purpose of Jewelry design.  The disadvantages of this is that each of these professional options can be very expensive.

An example, the least expensive option I was able to find would cost me just under $3,000.00.  However, this is just for the program.  The jewelry specific items you will need cost as much as $1,500.00, and both offer annual updates by subscriptions, for a cost.  This is why I chose to use Blender 3D.

Should you move into the professional needs of a CAD designer, and you can afford to purchase such software, then you will be both amazed as well as stunned as to the features.  However, I’m here to help you learn these skills, on a limited budget.  Maybe even at no extra cost to you.

What do you need?

Thats it.  I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have, but I’m sure most of you meet these requirements.  If you don’t have all these things, don’t worry, they are easy to get.

If you’ve watched the introduction video, and read your way down to here, then I believe you’re ready to start learning the wonderful skill of being a Jewelry CAD Designer!
